This hilarious novel is best categorized as a ‘Southern Memoir’. Though loosely based on a few real events following the devastating 1973 tornado that destroyed much of Jonesboro AR, the story is mostly made up of exaggerations, fabrications, embellishments and outright lies. A wonderful look at high school struggles and adventures as a boy goes from child to man.
Description
The second installment in The Southern Adventure Series, JD and Me: Bad Ideas and Poor Judgment continues the story begun in Me, Boo and the Goob. The hilarious story of his high school adventures will bring back your own memories of triumph and tradgedy.
This work is a southern memoir. What that means is that this work is, by definition made up almost but not quite entirely, of suspiciously unverified events. It features somewhat exaggerated drama and some very questionable characters. (For the record, I have never actually met Elvis or Jerry) This memoir is a roux made of equal parts fact and fiction liberally seasoned with healthy measures of exaggeration, fabrication, and a few outright lies. The story is set in Jonesboro Arkansas in the years following the 1973 Tornado. This story takes poetic license to an absurd, almost criminal extreme. In keeping with the greatest of southern traditions, the author has never been one to let the truth get in the way of a good story.
